National Grid is looking at plans that would see the UK export renewable electricity to the EU. Plans would see wind farms in the North Sea connect to continental Europe via giant power cables beneath the English Channel. The UK currently has the world’s largest offshore wind market and has plans to quadruple capacity by 2030.

Today, InfraStrata announced its acquisition of two of the three BiFab sites in Scotland, giving it a foothold along both the west and east coasts of Scotland. This expansion has added over 25,000m˛ of undercover fabrication capacity; 580,000m˛ of total site area and 24,000 tonnes of quayside load-out capabilities. This builds on the significant capacity at the Harland & Wolff sites in Belfast and Appledore.
