The Nefteyugansk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate of Transneft Siberia has commissioned the section of the Ust-Balyk – Nizhnevartovsk oil trunk pipeline (OTP) in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra after revamping.
The works were carried out as part of the technical upgrading and revamping programme of the company’s operating facilities. The goal was to increase reliability of the OTP’s operation and ensure industrial and environmental safety.
A section with a length of 2.5 km was replaced. At the revamped section of the line, a pipe with a diameter of 720 mm and a wall thickness of 12 mm was laid into a ready-made trench of the Ust-Balyk – Nizhnevartovsk OTP’s existing communication corridor. Construction and installation were carried out in compliance with all requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation.
Upon completion of the works, tests of the new section for strength and tightness, which confirmed the absence of deviations, were conducted. The condition of welded joints and the insulation coating was checked; the electrochemical protection of the pipeline was ensured.
The replacement of the oil pipeline’s section was carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of industrial safety and industrial control. More than 60 engineers and workers were involved in it, over 25 pieces of equipment were used.
The revamped section of the Ust-Balyk – Nizhnevartovsk OTP was commissioned in accordance with the schedule and is functioning under the normal protocol.
