The Uray Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate of Transneft Siberia has completed laying the new underwater crossing of the Krasnoleninskaya – Shaim – Konda oil trunk pipeline (OTP) over the Konda River in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra. The length of the underwater section is 470 m, the total length of the OTP underwater crossing is 2,600 m.
The underwater crossing replacement was carried out as part of the revamping of the Krasnoleninskaya – Shaim – Konda oil pipeline with a length of 20.3 km. The goal was to improve the OTP reliability by replacing defective sections, ensure industrial and environmental safety during operation.
During the work, the pipeline’s underwater section, a siphon (an oil pipeline section consisting of several pipes pre-welded into a string and laid via the river bed), was welded, lined and ballasted with annular weights. For the pipeline welded joints quality control, visual, ultrasonic and X-ray testing and duplicate X-ray testing of welded joints were carried out. The siphon was tested for strength and tightness. The next stage of hydraulic testing of the new section is scheduled for April 2021.
Work is underway to arrange 2 stop valve units at the bank sections of the underwater crossing and an electrochemical protection system of the pipeline.
The replacement of the OTP underwater crossing is carried out in accordance with the requirements of industrial safety and industrial construction control. The commissioning of the new section of the OTP is planned for November 2021.
