Transneft Siberia has replaced and commissioned 4 mainline electric pump units (MPUs) at the Bachkun-1 oil pumping station (PS) of the Tyumen Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate.
The works on updating of the pumping equipment at the Bachkun-1 PS have been carried out under the technical upgrading and revamping programme of Transneft Siberia since January 2020. The goal was to improve performance over previously operating equipment and systems.
The modern pump units were installed to replace those that had reached the end of their standard service life. The new equipment was manufactured at the Russian plants of Transneft Oil Pumps and Russian Electric Motors (Chelyabinsk) as part of the import substitution programme.
The pumping equipment is designed to pump a nominal capacity of 10,000 m3 per hour and with a pressure of 210 m H2O. The electric motor capacity is 8,000 kW and the rotor speed is 3,000 rpm. The increased efficiency allows to use electricity for crude oil transportation (90% pump efficiency, 97.4% electric motor efficiency) more economically. New electric pump units have an extended overhaul period.
In addition, auxiliary equipment which had reached the end of its standard service life was replaced. The oil system, the leak and drainage system, the power supply and automation system were replaced; new back pressure valves, vibration, temperature and pressure sensors were installed. All equipment has passed a comprehensive test and is functioning under the standard protocol.
The upgrade of the pumping equipment allowed to improve the reliability and energy efficiency of the Bachkun-1 PS and ensure the industrial and environmental safety of the Ust-Balyk – Kurgan – Ufa – Almetyevsk oil trunk pipeline.
