Pertamina successfully completed the process of extinguishing the fire after the fire incident in tank area 39, Pertamina Cilacap Refinery complex, Sunday (13/6/2021). This was conveyed by the President Director of PT Pertamina International Refinery (KPI), Djoko Priyono in a press conference, Sunday afternoon at Pertamina RU IV Head Office, Jalan MT Haryono, Cilacap.

Djoko said this success was a result of the hard work of Pertamina officers for less than 40 hours, since the Benzene-filled tank fire incident occurred on Friday night (11/6/2021). "Exactly on Sunday, at 10.50 WIB, friends at the Pertamina Cilacap Refinery were able to extinguish all the fires around the tank area 39. Everything was in smooth condition and extinguished," he explained.

Currently, Djoko continued, his party continues to monitor, cooling with foam in the tank area, to ensure there are no more new hotspots. “We also continue to measure the tank temperature, and currently it is at 35 degrees Celsius. This means that we can be sure with this temperature there will be no potential for new hotspots, although we are still on standby,” he said.

On the same occasion, Djoko, who has also served as GM of the Pertamina Cilacap Refinery, expressed his appreciation to all members of the Cilacap Regency Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) who continue to provide full support in handling this incident. “There is the Regent, Deputy Regent, Kapolres, Dandim, Danlanal and Kajari who always support us. Don't forget the media friends who continue to periodically convey the development of this incident to the public," he added.

This incident, according to Djoko, did not cause any problems to consumers, both the general public and consumers from the Petrochemical industry. "As stated by Mrs. Nicke Widyawati as President Director of Pertamina, this incident from the start had absolutely no impact on refinery operations or distribution of fuel and LPG. Everything is safe," he concluded.

At this press conference, the Director of Operations of PT KPI, Yulian Dekri, was also present; GM Pertamina Cilacap Refinery, Joko Pranoto; Kajari Cilacap, Tri Ari Mulyanto; Cilacap Police Chief, AKBP Leganek Mawardi; Dandim 0703/Cilacap, Lieutenant Colonel (Inf) Andi Afandi; and Pasintel Lanal Cilacap, Marine Major (E) Sudianto.
