The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of the design engineering and fabrication of the subsea production system for Johan Castberg and how, as the operator, Equinor is exercising its supervisory duty towards the suppliers. The audit was carried out on 9 June 2021.
This was the second part of this supervision activity. The first part was conducted earlier this year: Equinor Johan Castberg subsea production system (3 May 2021)
Objective
The objective was to investigate whether the company's follow-up, process safety, risk and barrier management, emergency preparedness, degradation mechanisms and assembly of the subsea production system comply with the company's own and the regulatory requirements.
In the second part of this supervision activity, the objective was to monitor how the project is exercising its supervisory duty towards the suppliers in respect of design documentation, interface management, materials selection, fabrication qualification and verification activities.
Result
In this part of the audit, no non-conformities or improvement points were identified.
