The reporter learned from the Sinopec News Office that the new report on the proven reserves of shale gas in the Baima block of the Fuling shale gas field passed the review of the Ministry of Natural Resources on December 9. It was determined that the newly-added proven reserves of this block were 104.883 billion cubic meters. So far, the Fuling shale gas field has accumulated proven reserves of nearly 900 billion cubic meters, accounting for 34% of the country’s proven reserves of shale gas.

The Baima block proved this time has the characteristics of "double complex" surface structure and underground structure, and belongs to a typical atmospheric deep gas reservoir. After six years, Jianghan Oilfield has broken through the technical bottleneck of deep atmospheric shale gas benefit development. The single-well test shale gas production has increased from 40,000 to 60,000 cubic meters per day to 100,000 to 130,000 cubic meters per day. As of the end of November, the highest cumulative gas production volume of a single well in the Baima block exceeded 30 million cubic meters, which was at a relatively high level among domestic atmospheric shale gas wells, confirming that the block has good prospects for large-scale reserves increase and profitable development.

Up to now, the Fuling shale gas field has put into production a total of 643 wells, with a cumulative gas production volume of over 41.2 billion cubic meters and a daily gas production volume of over 20 million cubic meters, providing a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the protection of national energy security.
