ConocoPhillips – Ekofisk – Follow-up of Permanent Plugging of Wells

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS (ConocoPhillips)’s follow-up of permanent plugging (PP&A) of wells in the Ekofisk area. The audit was conducted on 30 November 2021.

The objective of the audit was to monitor that ConocoPhillips's planning and execution of the PP&A of wells on the Ekofisk field comply with the HSE regulations.

In the audit, we focused on how ConocoPhillips is following up on the lessons learned from the audit of Ekofisk A in 2017.

Identification, documentation and verification of barriers.
Use of new technology.
Processes for, and assessments of, risk and uncertainty.
Implementation of lessons learned from operations carried out.
Monitoring of any future spills from the wells.

The audit identified no non-conformities or improvement points.
