Saipem has obtained from DNV, a leading international classification society, the Social Accountability International (SAI) SA8000 certification which certifies the implementation of a corporate social accountability management system in the field of human rights, employees’ rights and well-being in the company. SA8000 guarantees compliance with the best international guidelines and ethical rules defined by the most important international organizations in the field of human and labour rights protection, such as the ILO (International Labour Organization) conventions and the UN conventions on the subject.
It is a voluntary international global ethical certification that also commits companies to control their production chains, triggering a virtuous cycle throughout the supply chain. It is issued on the basis of transparent, measurable and verifiable requirements.
Its achievement constitutes further evidence of Saipem's commitment to sustainability, with particular reference to essential areas such as respect for human rights, labour law compliance, prohibition of child labour, ensuring health and safety at the workplace, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining along the entire value chain of the company's business.
The SA8000 certification is the latest of the notable international certifications obtained by Saipem, as evidence of its commitment in the areas of Social Responsibility and ESG, testifying to its sustainable business model applied to all organizational processes according to international best practices.
