A framework deal for the procurement of electricity from solar power plants has been reached between Uniper and direct marketer Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH, a subsidiary of ENERPARC AG. Uniper will purchase around 208 gigawatt hours per year from 53 solar parks across Germany with a total installed capacity of approximately 198 MW under this so-called Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Sunnic Lighthouse will begin delivering green power to Uniper in July 2022 and will originally last until the end of 2027.
Niek den Hollander, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper, explains: "The demand for green power is growing. In the course of the energy transition, we are not only decarbonizing our own power generation, but are already making more and more green power available to our customers so that they can achieve their own climate targets. Hence working with Sunnic Lighthouse on a long-term offtake agreement is an excellent way to accelerate the decarbonization of ourselves and our customers. We are pleased to have Sunnic Lighthouse as a partner with whom we can now safely invest in climate-friendly electricity from photovoltaic systems and thus further advance the energy transition."
"Renewable energies from photovoltaics are one of the most important building blocks of the energy transition. Long-term electricity supply contracts in the form of power purchase agreements offer particularly attractive conditions and security for both sides. These 208 gigawatt hours that we deliver to Uniper are an excellent example of how investments in renewable energies meet the demand for green electricity," says Arved von Harpe, CEO of Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH.
