Balticconnector technical capacity offered for the market participants has been 54,6 GWh/day from Estonia towards Finland. As a result of tight regional co-operation and the common objective to maximize the capacity offered for the market, the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of Finland, Estonia and Latvia are starting the coordinated weekly dynamic capacity calculation which may enable increased capacity to be offered at Balticconnector providing possibility for the market participants to deliver higher gas quantities through Balticconnector for the Finnish gas consumers.

The dynamically calculated capacity will be assessed on a weekly basis and requires tight regional co-operation where the flow dynamics and market behavior in terms of gas transportation needs in Baltic – Finnish region are considered. The TSOs emphasize that at least already published technical capacity of 54,6 GWh/day will be offered for the market, and, if technically possible, additional dynamically calculated capacity will be offered.

The TSOs have agreed on the process where the possibility to offer dynamically calculated capacity is assessed every Thursday for one-week period starting from the beginning of gas day on Saturday at 07:00 EET and ending at the end of gas day on Friday next week at 07:00 EET. The information regarding dynamically calculated capacity will be published on GET Baltic UMM platform and updated on ENTSOG Transparency Platform accordingly.

On Thursday, December 22nd, after the assessment of the actual regional situation, the TSOs have agreed that it would be possible to offer dynamically calculated technical capacity of 5,4 GWh/day, meaning that Balticconnector capacity from Estonia towards Finland could be temporary increased to 60 GWh/day for the period starting from 24th of December 07:00 until 31st of December 07:00. The possibility to offer additional capacity for the following one-week period will be assessed on Thursday 29th of December. The TSOs will assess possibility to offer dynamically calculated capacity on a weekly basis until further notice.

Also, Gasgrid Finland and Elering have updated Balticconnector technical capacity from Finland towards Estonia to be increased to 78 GWh/day starting from January 16, 2023 at the time of commercial commissioning of the Floating LNG Terminal in Inkoo.
