Egypt Backed by International Partners in Gas Exploration Works

Petroleum Minister Tarek Al Molla said Egypt is backed by a big base of global partners in the field of exploring natural gas and crude oil in the Mediterranean, the eastern and western deserts.

In an interview with MENA, Molla pointed to an overcrowded exploratory map, which includes drilling and exploration works in the coming two years based on the successes achieved in this domain.

As a regional hub for gas export, Egypt has a strategic role in developing gas in the East Mediterranean region in the coming period, Molla noted, referring to Egypt's efforts to maximize its logistic role in handling petroleum products in the coming period.

The minister also pointed to strong ties with oil ministers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, from which Egypt imports oil.

Speaking about the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC)'s meeting held in Kuwait city, the minister said the participation of Saudi, Qatari, Iraqi, Libyan, and Syrian oil ministers besides Egypt shows a strong desire to render OAPEC's mission successful.
