US Refinery throughput Falls to Lowest since March 2021

US refinery throughput tumbled by 2.33M b/d w-o-w and 2.05M b/d y-o-y to 13.82M b/d during the week ending 30 December, the lowest level since March 2021, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). This decline comes as operations at a dozen refineries along the US Gulf Coast were hit by a deep freeze, Reuters reported. Crude oil exports rose by 740K b/d w-o-w to 4.21M b/d, whereas crude imports fell by 540K b/d w-o-w to a seven-week low of 5.71M b/d. Crude oil stocks increased by 1.69M bbls w-o-w to 420.65M bbls, however Strategic Petroleum Reserve supplies declined by 2.75M bbls w-o-w to 372.38M bbls, the lowest level since December 1983.
