GOLDBECK SOLAR has been awarded the contract for the construction of the largest PV projects in ImWind‘s history and will be responsible as general contractor for the turnkey construction of the Nickelsdorf solar park in north-eastern Burgenland and the Tauernwind solar park in Steiermark.

With a total output of 42 MWp, the PV plants will supply around 13,000 Austrian households with green solar power in the future and save around 22,000 tonnes of CO2.

Start of a successful cooperation

Both solar power plants feed electricity into the public distribution grid via existing wind farms and are characterised by the efficient use of the existing grid infrastructure. Hybrid feed-in minimises the costs of grid expansion, makes optimal use of existing project areas and ensures more even electricity generation.

“In GOLDBECK SOLAR we have found a reliable partner with the necessary expertise for the construction of our PV projects. With the construction of our two new solar parks, we are not only expanding our PV portfolio, but also making a significant contribution to Austria’s energy and supply security,” says Georg Waldner, co-partner and CEO of ImWind.

The largest solar park in the high alpine region

“We are very pleased to be able to support ImWind in the realisation of their solar parks. Nickelsdorf and Tauernwind are our first PV projects in Austria and an important milestone for our entry into this promising market. Together, we are creating the energy turnaround step by step,” confirms Tobias Tacke, Head of the Solar Parks DACH business unit at GOLDBECK SOLAR.

“With the construction of the new plant, the largest solar park in the high alpine region is being created in Styria. The installed capacity of the existing solar park will be more than quintupled and efficiently integrated into the existing grid infrastructure. Another chapter is thus being added to the 20-year success story of renewable energy in Oberzeiring. “, concludes Johannes Trauttmansdorff, founder of ImWind.
