PASH Global, has announced the completion of its latest project; a hurricane-resistant, ground-mounted 1MW solar farm at Fresenius Kabi’s medical manufacturing complex in San German, Puerto Rico. The solar farm not only provides a reliable source of clean energy for a critical industry in Puerto Rico, but also serves as a symbol of resilience in the face of future natural disasters.
The solar farm is expected to produce 1,504 MWh of energy per year. This is enough energy to completely power more than 500 homes. An estimated 1, 386 MT of CO2 per year will be displaced, reducing carbon emissions and helping to create a more sustainable future for the people of Puerto Rico. The project will also provide Fresenius Kabi with a highly cost-efficient means of independently generating its own supply of renewable energy on site.
In Puerto Rico, hurricanes and tropical storms are seasonal. For this reason, PASH Global successfully designed and constructed a solar farm that could withstand even the harshest weather conditions. The result is a state-of-the-art facility that features solar panels specifically engineered to withstand winds up to 170 mph. For Fresenius Kabi, the solar farm will continue to provide clean energy to power their operations.
“We wanted to demonstrate to the people of Puerto Rico that clean energy and weather resilience can go hand in hand. This solar farm is proof of that; during Hurricane Fiona last year, its components were undamaged while the project was under construction. ” said Kofi Owusu-Bempah, CEO & Managing Partner of PASH Global.
“At PASH Global, we are always looking for ways to make renewable energy more accessible and more robust. PASH Technical team considered different technical solutions during the detailed engineering phase of the project taking into account environmental and logistical challenges in Puerto Rico. This hurricane-resistant solar farm in Puerto Rico is just the beginning of our journey to create a cleaner, greener and more resilient environment for Puerto Rico.”, commented Ahmed Khattab, Technical Director of PASH Global.
“We are pleased that Fresenius Kabi’s strategic vision to be leading industrial company in the Puerto Rican energy transition has come to life with this project delivered by PASH. The project tangibly demonstrates that critical industries such as ours with substantial power demands can play their part in reducing their environmental impact, whilst effectively serving the communities that they are part of. We are proud to be showcasing this in Puerto Rico.”-said Alvin Peralta Faulkner, General Manager at Fresenius Kabi.
