OMV – Deepsea Yantai – Planning of Drilling Operations

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of OMV’s planning of drilling operations on Deepsea Yantai (Eirik well). The audit was conducted on 23 and 24 February 2023.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to monitor that OMV and its subcontractors are undertaking the planning and risk assessment of HPHT drilling operations in compliance with their own requirements, and the requirements in the regulations and standards referenced therein.
Result
One non-conformity was identified concerning the requirements for well-control competence for certain job positions.
Furthermore, one improvement item was identified concerning the sharing of information and learning from relevant well-control incidents.
What happens next?
We have asked OMV to report to us on how the non-conformity will be addressed and for their assessment of the improvement point observed.
The reply deadline is set at 31 May 2023.
