The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a regulatory conference with officials from
Entergy Operations on July 6, beginning at 9 a.m. Central time, to discuss the safety significance of
an inspection finding at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant in Port Gibson, Mississippi. The
finding was identified during a November 2022 inspection.
The purpose of the conference is for NRC and Entergy officials to discuss a preliminary
finding of low-to-moderate safety significance before the agency makes a final determination.
This conference is open to public observation and questions following the formal portion of
the meeting. The meeting will be held at the NRC’s Region IV office at 1600 East Lamar Blvd.,
Arlington, Texas. Members of the public also can participate online through Microsoft Teams,
using Meeting ID: 228 401 841 344, Passcode: daGCZa, or by calling 301-576-2978 and using
conference ID: 868 400 370#.
The preliminary finding and associated apparent violations of NRC requirements involve the
calibration and operability of high-range area radiation monitors in the drywell and containment,
and related errors in the classification of emergency action levels under the licensee’s emergency
plan. The finding is described in NRC’s May 18 inspection report.
A decision on the final safety significance of the preliminary violations or any NRC actions
will not be made at the meeting
