The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received an application from Energy Harbor
Nuclear Corp. to renew the operating license for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio.
The application is now available on the NRC website.
Energy Harbor filed the application on July 3, seeking to renew the license for an
additional 20 years of operation. Perry’s boiling-water reactor, located about 35 miles northeast
of Cleveland, is currently licensed to operate through Nov. 7, 2026.
The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it is sufficiently complete to
begin the agency’s detailed safety and environmental reviews. If the application is determined to
be complete, the staff will docket it and publish a notice of opportunity to request an
adjudicatory hearing before the NRC’s Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.
Information about the license renewal process is available on the NRC website. A copy
of the Perry license renewal application also will be available at the Perry Public Library,
3753 Main Street in Perry; and at the Madison Public Library, 6111 Middle Ridge Road in
Madison, Ohio.
