Shizen Energy Inc.(Shizen Energy) and GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH (GUGLER), an Austrian company that develops, designs, and manufactures water turbines for small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants, have installed a 2.2 MW Pelton turbine and synchronous generator to the Kuroda Hydroelectric Power Plant (Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture) of Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Chubu Electric Power). The newly installed turbine started full-scale operation in April 2023. This is the first GUGLER megawatt-class turbine to be put into operation in Japan.
Chubu Electric Power’s Kuroda Hydroelectric Power Plant has been undergoing a complete renewal of its water turbine generator and related facilities since February 2022. In selecting the turbine generator, Shizen Energy and GUGLER’s technical proposal was highly evaluated along with GUGLER’s extensive overseas experience.
GUGLER is one of the world’s leading companies specializing in the development, design, and production of small and medium-sized hydropower turbines, with more than 100 years of history and technology and more than 1,000 units delivered to more than 50 countries around the world. The company’s water turbines and generators are characterized by high efficiency, short delivery times, and low cost. GUGLER offers different types of turbines such as Pelton, Francis, and Kaplan. Shizen Energy entered into a business partnership with GUGLER in 2016 and has exclusive rights to sell the company’s water turbines and generators which are greater than 100 kilowatts in Japan.
Shizen Energy will take this opportunity to further expand sales and contribute to society through the supply of turbines and generators in the field of hydroelectric power generation.
