Bruce Power’s Creative Strategy team continues to be lauded for its revitalization of the company’s Visitors’ Centre.
The team of five graphic designers was recently honoured with a PRINT Award from PRINTmagazine, one of the most respected media brands and awards in the design industry. The Creative Strategy team was recognized in the ‘In-house’ category for its master plan and resulting design of the Visitors’ Centre, which undertook a major upgrade during the COVID-19 pandemic, before re-opening to the public in June 2022.
“The design of the masterplan included a new, immersive experience that takes visitors through the story of Bruce Power, how nuclear power is generated, and its exciting future,” said Dwight Irwin, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “The Creative Strategy team created a new-and-improved gallery of exhibits that included a new welcome area and timeline wall, as well as exhibits that explain a CANDU reactor, our environment program, medical isotopes, and a formal acknowledgment of the fact our site resides on the traditional and treaty territories of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.”
The jury for the In-house category consisted of Coca-Cola North America’s Head of Design & Creative Production, a columnist and designer for PRINTmagazine, Google’s UX Writing Lead & Design Manager, and Spotify Advertising’s Global Head of Design.
The Visitors’ Centre is currently bustling with people taking part in the Site Bus Tour Program, which run three times a day, Monday to Friday, during the summer months, with the final tours scheduled for Aug. 31.
