the construction of the specialized foundry complex which will be the largest facility of this kind in Russia started in the Uzlovaya special economic zone
in the Tula Region.
Taking part in the event were Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Alexey Dyumin, Governor of the Tula Region.
The enterprise will develop the production of turbine blades for industrial, power-generating and marine gas turbines. Such turbines are widely used by Gazprom, for instance, at natural gas production and transmission and hydrocarbon feedstock processing facilities, as well as at facilities that produce power and heat for the consumers.
The blades are the key component of gas turbines which is also the hardest to manufacture. During operation, it is the blades that are most heavily affected by dynamic loads and ultra-high temperatures. That is why they have limited lifetime and require regular replacement.
Gazprom's specialized foundry complex will became one of the most cutting-edge and high-tech enterprises in Russia. A full range of foundry operations will be performed here: preparation of materials, fabrication of casting molds, manufacture of specialized steel, mechanical processing of the blade components, testing and laboratory quality control of the final products.
Cutting-edge foundry technologies will be employed at the enterprise. This will make it possible to manufacture blades that perform reliably during their long service life and last a long time between replacements.
It is planned to complete the construction of the foundry complex in 2025. The first batch of products is expected to be produced in 2026.
“Today, we are celebrating a milestone event in the power machinery industry of our country. Today, Gazprom is commencing the active phase of the construction of the specialized foundry complex where we will produce key gas turbine components that are very hard-to-manufacture.
It will be a very high-tech production providing a full range of foundry works for the manufacture of the blades, a high-quality and highly research-intensive production. The enterprise will be fully supplied with orders, and will employ more than 500 people.
The new production is a very important step toward strengthening our domestic competencies and reinforcing the technological sovereignty of our country,” said Alexey Miller.
