Highlights
- Alameda-3 Appraisal Well remains on target for November 2023 spud.
- Drilling rig on site and being prepared for next drilling operation.
- Casing and other inventory has begun arriving at the drill site.
- Preparations for commencement of early production from Unit 1B of Alameda-2
nearly complete.
Melbana Energy’s Executive Chairman, Andrew Purcell, commented: “Our team is
working hard to get ready for the commencement of drilling of Alameda-3. The pad is a busy
place at present as we are doing rig maintenance on site as well as conducting civil works to
expand the pad and accepting deliveries of casing and other inventory.
In parallel, we will soon commence early production from Unit 1B in Alameda-2 to improve our
understanding of the reservoir’s characteristics at a range of production rates and pressures.
This will also allow us to iron out the logistics and transaction procedures for produced oil.
Production will be suspended on a precautionary basis when Alameda-3 commences drilling
and will restart when the 13 3/8” casing is cemented thus isolating the Amistad reservoir”.
Melbana Energy Limited a 30% interest holder in and
Operator of Block 9 PSC onshore Cuba, is pleased to provide this operational update.
Civil works are being finalised to expand the pad to allow for more equipment necessary to
drill the deeper Alameda-3 well (see Figure 1).
Alameda-3 will test the lower two geologically independent oil-bearing reservoirs intercepted
by Alameda-1 – designated Alameda and Marti, respectively.
The drilling rig is being maintained and enhanced on site in preparation for the commencement
of drilling (see Figure 2).
Necessary inventory and equipment are being moved to site to enable spud of Alameda-3 in
November (see Figure 3 and 4).
Ahead of the commencement of drilling of Alameda-3, the Company is establishing equipment
necessary to obtain early production from the Unit 1B reservoir encountered in Alameda-2 (see
Figure 5).
