The Undersecretary for Refining Affairs announced the production of high-octane gasoline (gasoline) of super and improved quality at the Karbala refinery. This came during his visit to the refinery today, Thursday, and his meeting with the implementing and supporting companies. The Undersecretary for Refining Affairs, Hamid Younis, confirmed that the inspection visit comes in implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs. The Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdel-Ghani, to follow up on the refinery’s production operations.
Pointing to the start of production operations for high-octane (super) gasoline, with an octane number of 95, which is an important step to advance the refining industry, and it will be released for the first time for local consumption in green, in addition to the production of high-octane (improved) gasoline, with an octane number of 92, in red.
During his visit to the refinery, Mr. Undersecretary held a meeting that included the Korean coalition, the Petroleum Projects Company, and the senior management of the refinery, stressing the importance of continued follow-up and coordination for the sustainability of the work of this national and strategic project.
Mr. Al-Wakeel stressed the necessity of achieving a high flow of operational operations in the refinery in conjunction with production rates reaching their design capacity of 140 thousand barrels per day.
Younis praised the national efforts represented in completing the operation of all production units, in addition to the FCC crushing unit, which is the first of its kind in Iraq to produce gasoline with an octane number of 96 to complement the production of high-octane gasoline, which has reached its highest production capacity.
