A considerable contribution to the implementation of universal access to electricity
On the sidelines of the presidential council held in Fatick, the President of the Republic Macky Sall inaugurated the 225/30 kV high voltage substation in Fatick. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, Amadou Bâ, the Minister of Oil and Energy, Antoine Félix Diome, the General Director of Senelec, Papa Mademba Bitéye and members of the management committee.
Indeed, the Fatick area was isolated from the interconnected high voltage transmission network and was supplied by the 30 kV medium voltage network from the Mbour and Kaolack source stations. The town of Fatick was formerly supplied by two 30 kV feeders, a feeder which left Kaolack with a length of 40 kilometers and another feeder of 70 kilometers which left Malicounda in the Mbour department. This power supply scheme caused a lot of disruptions, technical losses and voltage drops, which affected the quality of service in this city.
The construction of this modern electricity distribution structure will therefore make it possible to strengthen the electricity supply to the Fatick region and part of the Kaolack region but also to the Mbour and Touba departments. Inaugurated on Saturday November 18, 2023, the Fatick high voltage substation, at a cost of 20 billion CFA francs, will double Senelec's service capacity and promote universal access in the area. In addition, the creation of the Fatick station will make it possible to back up the Mbour and Kaolack station in the event of their unavailability.
