CPS Energy’s Energy Angels Program has expanded to provide more donation options to make it easier to help a customer in need CPS Energy launched its original Energy Angels program in 2021 to allow a person to make a payment towards a customer’s energy bill. The previous program required donors to provide a CPS Energy account number in order to make a donation. The new enhancements to the program allow donations to be made to a specific person by providing either an account number, address or phone number. Those who are not donating to a specific person can choose to donate to a general fund. The general fund prioritizes customers in need who are behind on their energy bills and will apply the credit to CPS Energy customers who do not qualify for the utility’s Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP) program.

“At CPS Energy, we care deeply about our community and understand that access to energy is essential for families year-round. That’s why we’re committed to providing bill assistance and valuable resources to those who need it most,” said DeAnna Hardwick, Chief Customer Strategy Officer at CPS Energy. “Our Energy Angels program is a shining example of how individuals can come together to make a real difference in the lives of others. We’re incredibly grateful to those who have stepped up to help their neighbors catch up on their bills. Their generosity has truly made a positive impact on our community.”

Those interested in donating to Energy Angels do not have to be a CPS Energy customer to participate. For donations made to a specific account, recipients of the gifts will see a credit on their CPS Energy bill the next business day. For donations made to the general fund, recipients of the gift will see a credit on their CPS Energy bill toward the end of the month. Recipients from the general fund must be on a current installment plan and must not exceed 300% of the poverty limit.

To participate, the donator can choose one of the following payment options:
Contact CPS Energy by phone to make a credit or debit card payment at (210) 353-2222.
Make a one-time payment online here
Visit any four of CPS Energy’s walk-in centers to purchase the gift with cash.

A small processing fee of $2.35 is associated with debit or credit card payments made over the phone or online. No additional fees apply. CPS Energy will provide the donator a payment confirmation number as well as a tax receipt when a donation is made to a non-specific account.

CPS Energy reminds customers who are in need of additional bill assistance to contact the utility at (210)353-2222 or visit the CPS Energy website. For more information on the Energy Angels program and ways to participate, visit the Energy Angels webpage or call us at (210)353-2222.
