JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation ("JX NOEX") (President and CEO: Toshiya
Nakahara) is pleased to announce that in November 2023, our subsidiary JX Nippon Oil and Gas
Exploration (Malaysia) Limited ("NOMA") (President and CEO: Shinji Oka) celebrated its 20th
anniversary of the production from Helang Field in Block SK10 off the coast of Sarawak, offshore
Malaysia. The ceremonies were held in Kuala Lumpur City on 26th October and in Miri City on
28th October with many guests.
Attendees at the ceremonies were the representatives from the office of government, Petroliam
Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) ("PETRONAS") and many other business partners. The total
number of attendees reached approximately 240. The ceremonies started with music
performance and the 20th anniversary montage followed by the congratulatory speeches by
Ambassador Takahashi (Embassy of Japan in Malaysia) and Datuk Adif Zulkifli, Executive Vice
President and Chief Executive Officer of Upstream (PETRONAS) in Kuala Lumpur, and YB Datuk
Awang Tengah, Deputy Premier of Sarawak in Miri.
On 18th November 1987, PSC for Block SK10 was signed and the first gas from Helang Field
came on stream in 2003. Since then, our efforts to enhance gas production led us to commence
operations in Layang Field in 2017 and Beryl Field in 2018.
The gas produced from SK10 is exported to Japan and other East Asian countries. NOMA has
continued safe and stable operations as an operator. We will continue our efforts to maximize
the value of Block SK10 by utilizing our knowledge and experience gained through our operation
in Malaysia. Through our commitment to safe operation and value maximization, we are
contributing to the secure and stable supply of energy to East Asian countries including Japan.
NOMA looks ahead to its continued growth in Malaysia under the stewardship of Malaysia
Petroleum Management, PETRONAS, as the country's custodian of petroleum resources.
