The CCUS pilot test of the Dual 229 Block in Liaohe Oilfield has completed the injection work of 22 gas injection wells, injecting 78,000 tons of carbon dioxide in stages, completing 95% of the annual injection volume. The 52 production wells corresponding to these injection wells saw production increase effects. Compared with before gas injection, the total daily oil increase was 40.9 tons, and the cumulative oil increase in this stage was 15,000 tons.
Since the Shuang 229 block was put into exploration and development, it has been relying on natural energy for mining. The natural decline rate reached the highest level of more than 40%. The main reason is that water injection cannot be used to replenish energy. To this end, Liaohe Oilfield decided to implement a carbon dioxide flooding test in this block through repeated optimization of energy supplement methods. Currently, a carbon dioxide recycling injection station is being built in Shuang 229 Block, and the carbon dioxide purification and treatment function is also under construction. After all are put into operation, carbon dioxide can be circulated on-site in a closed state, greatly reducing the amount of purchased carbon dioxide and reducing test costs.
Shuang 229 block, located in Dawa District, Panjin City, Liaoning Province, is a typical ultra-low permeability lithological oil reservoir. In August 2021, the dual 229-block CCUS pilot test project was launched, becoming one of PetroChina’s “four major and six small” CCUS projects. In March 2022, the "Pilot Test Plan for Carbon Displacing Oil and Carbon Sequestration in the Extra-Low Permeability Reservoir No. 1 in Well 128 Area of ??Shuang 229 Block Swamp" was approved by the joint-stock company, with an overall deployment of 11 injections and 39 production, and the utilized reserves were 3.58 million tons, which was higher than the original The method is expected to increase the recovery rate by 32.5% and store a total of 2.36 million tons of carbon dioxide at the end of the stage.
