Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Co., Ltd. (President: Yasuhiro Konishi, hereinafter "TGES") is working with British James Fisher & Sons (President: Jean Barnett, hereinafter "James Fisher") to provide construction support and operation for offshore wind power plants in Japan. - We have concluded a collaboration agreement to jointly carry out maintenance (O&M) business.
Offshore wind power will play a major role in Japan's decarbonization, and the government has set a goal of introducing 10GW by 2030.
On the other hand, regular maintenance such as legal inspection once a year is essential for the stable operation of offshore wind power, but maintenance at sea requires work and vessel arrangements that correspond to the daily changing wind and wave conditions. A high level of expertise is required.
In addition to implementing 29 offshore wind-related projects in the Asia-Pacific region through its Taiwan office, James Fisher has a track record of 6.1 GW of similar projects worldwide, and has extensive experience in construction support and O&M for offshore wind BoP * . We have a wealth of knowledge and technology.
TGES has advanced knowledge, technology, and a wealth of experience in the engineering and O&M of energy infrastructure (LNG terminals, conduits, district heating and cooling plants, etc.) in Japan, and by collaborating with James Fisher, which is expanding into Japan, , will be able to provide high quality and competitive construction support and O&M services to offshore wind power projects in Japan.
In the future, we aim to receive orders for construction support and O&M services in the BoP area from Japanese offshore wind operators.
Comment from Jean Barnett, President of James Fisher Company
We are delighted to be working with TGES at this important time of energy transition. We recognize that cooperation between industry is essential in order to provide 36-38% of total energy capacity with renewable energy by 2030. With TGES' strong engineering expertise, extensive knowledge and network in Japan, James Fisher provides expert advice and exceptional service. This is in line with James Fisher's vision to provide offshore wind services not only in Japan but also in the Northeast Asia-Pacific region in the long term.
Comment from Yasuhiro Konishi, President of TGES
We are very honored to be able to work on this project with such a wonderful partner as James Fisher. Offshore wind power plays an extremely important role in decarbonization in Japan, and its stable operation is essential to supporting energy decarbonization. By combining TGES' strength in engineering and O&M know-how in energy infrastructure with James Fisher's extensive offshore work skills, we will be able to provide high reliability and competitiveness in the offshore wind business, an important renewable energy source for Japan. We will continue to provide this great value and contribute to reducing environmental impact, promoting decarbonization, and developing a sustainable society.
