Profile
Athabasca Oil Corporation, was founded in 2006, an Alberta based company, is focused on the sustainable development of oil sands in the Athabasca region in northeastern Alberta and light oil resources in northwestern Alberta, Canada. Alberta is well placed to be a secure supplier to the world’s energy demand. Athabasca is well placed to grow and contribute its part. Athabasca expects to see considerable future expansion of liquids production: oil sands, carbonates and liquids rich tight formations suitable for multi-stage fracture completions. Most of Athabasca’s Thermal Oil Assets will produce bitumen from oil sands using the well-established extraction technique called Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) as the primary production process. In contrast, the company plans to utilize Thermal Assisted Gravity Drainage (TAGD) at Dover West Leduc, to produce bitumen from a carbonate reef and unlock significant value in this emerging unconventional play.
