Forest Oil was founded in northwestern Pennsylvania in 1916, under the principals of creative thinking and personal integrity and built through knowledge and judgment derived from experience. The company was incorporated in 1924, and has been publicly held since 1969. During the extensive history, Forest has prospered and grown into one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. The company and its subsidiaries are engaged in the exploration, acquisition, development, production and marketing of natural gas and crude oil in the United States and in select international locations. Corporate headquarters are located in Denver, Colorado, with principal reserves and producing properties in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

Forest’s areas of operations consist of a well-balanced portfolio of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids properties. In South Texas, the Eagle Ford Shale is an area of great potential. The formation produces oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids at various depths from 4,000 to 14,000 feet. In the Texas Panhandle is an area rich with oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The area promises numerous horizontal drilling opportunities from shallow oil zones like the Missourian Wash, Tonkawa, and Cleveland to the deeper, liquids-rich Granite Wash formation. In East Texas and North Louisiana holds one of the largest gas fields in the world.
