Nexen Inc

Nexen Inc. is an upstream oil and gas company responsibly developing energy resources in the UK North Sea, offshore West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and Western Canada. Nexen Inc. (formerly Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd.) was formed under the laws of Canada on July 12, 1971 through a reorganization, which combined the crude oil, natural gas and sulphur operations of its predecessor Jefferson Lake Petrochemicals of Canada Ltd. and the Canadian crude oil, natural gas and chemicals operations of Occidental Petroleum Corporation of Los Angeles, California.

Nexen is focused on three growth strategies: oil sands and shale gas in western Canada and conventional exploration and development primarily in the North Sea, offshore West Africa and deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Nexen adds value for shareholders through successful full-cycle oil and gas exploration and development, and leadership in ethics, integrity, governance and environmental stewardship.
