Early Production Facilities (EPF)-1

Gas Processing - Completed

Location  North Kuwait fields - Kuwait
Investment  239,000,000 USD
Announced  5/1/2005
Completion  10/30/2010
Scope  The Early Production Facilities (EPFs), which are a key component of KOC's heavy sour crude development program, will boost the processing of sour, sulphur-rich crude from existing fields by rehabilitating operations.

KOC first commercial heavy sour crude oil production project was aimed initially at processing 50,000 barrels a day (b/d) of crude from 20 wells in the two northern oil fields of Rawdhatain and Sabriya. The scheme will also produce about 35 million cubic feet a day of gas, which KOC plans to supply to state refinery operator Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The facility will include a produced water treatment and effluent water disposal system and gas compression units, and amine treating and sweetening plant and sulphur recovery and tail gas units.

The plant has the following major sections:
HP and LP Separators followed by HP and LP Contactors for the sweetening of gas - Stabilizer column for the sweetening of oil l Amine handling and Regeneration Unit - Acid Gas Incinerator l Emergency Flare.

The plant also has utilities like:
Hot Oil Unit l Chilled Water Unit - Air Compressor and Dryer Unit - Raw Water and RO Water System - The Slop Oil Storage and Waste Incinerator.

The sulphur recovery unit has reached a maximum oil export rate of 56,950 b/d of oil and 155 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas during Spetco's tests.
