Offshore Development & Production - Execution

Location  120 km north of Alexandria - Egypt
Investment  700,000,000 USD
Announced  12/1/1995
Scope  The Scarab and Saffron natural gas fields are 90km from the Nile Delta shoreline in depths of 250-850m with estimated reserves of 4tcf. The development is the first deepwater venture of its type in the Eastern Mediterranean. Its initial phase included eight subsea wells tied back to two manifolds with 20inch and 22inch export lines to shore, near Alexandria. Future development could see up to 20 wells and associated manifolds. Scarab Saffron is the largest gas field development in Egypt.

Since the concession agreement was finalized in 1995, 3,685km2 of 3D seismic, together with 4,900km2 of 2D seismic, it had been shot.

Scarab and Saffron contain high-grade methane gas with very low levels of condensate, and little or no hydrogen sulphide or carbon dioxide. Field Reserves have been put at in excess of 4tcf.

The project contains two parts, Onshore part: contains treatment area in Edco and a Pipeline supplying the link gas station in Psontway village (28 km from Edco).

Offshore Part: contains exploration of eight wells in addition to production tools which recieves gas from wells and send it to the onshore treatment station in Edco.
